Plan Overview

The Pearl Dental Insurance program for NSPE  members helps working individuals and families cover the cost of dental services for exams, cleanings, fillings and extractions, as well as crowns, bridges, dentures and orthodontia.

We offer you several benefit and rating options, so you spend what you'd like and get the quality dental care you deserve. Choose from the Traditional Dental Plan (Standard and Senior Plans available, with Platinum, Gold, or Silver options) and the Scheduled Dental Plan, which offers a flat-rate premium and a higher out-of-pocket expense. Both the Traditional and the Scheduled Dental Plans include the following features:

  • Choose your own Dentist
  • Dependents up to age 19 (23 if full-time student for Traditional Plan; 25 if full-time student for Scheduled Plan) also may be eligible
  • One $50 deductible per insured person per calendar year–waived for preventative services
  • No waiting period for Preventative Services
  • Up to $1,500 Maximum Benefit per insured person per calendar year, depending on plan
  • And much more!

NSPE's Pearl Dental Insurance Plan is valuable protection for you and your family, protecting you from the high cost of Preventive, Basic, Major and even Orthodontic dental services.

Additional Information

This plan is simple:

There is only one rate, regardless of the individual's age or living area. There is no age limit or state restriction. While the premium is lower, out-of-pocket expenses can be expected to be higher than with the Traditional Dental Plan. Costs to the insured still remain reasonable, and this plan may be preferred because the benefits are fixed—dependable and not subject to price escalation.

Maximum Benefit for dental procedures performed is $1,000 per insured person per calendar year. The deductible per insured person is $50 per calendar year or $150 family maximum. This deductible is waived for preventive and diagnostic treatment, and applied against insurance-covered expenses, not billed charges.

There is no age limit for this plan. Eligible dependents include spouse and dependent children to age 19 (25 if full-time student). There is no network restrictions, so all insured have the freedom to choose any dentist they want, and there is no waiting period for Preventive, Diagnostic, and Restorative dental services. There is a six-month waiting period for Endodontics and Oral Surgery and a 12-month waiting period on Perodontics, Major Restorative, Removable Prosthetics, and Fixed Bridge Services.

Monthly Fixed Rates

  • Member = $24
  • Member + Spouse = $43
  • Member + Children = $43
  • Member + Family = $58

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this NSPE Scheduled Dental Insurance different from a discount dental plan?

The NSPE Dental Plan is dental insurance, not a discount plan. Insurance protects you when you need it most. It pays for your preventive care as well as for emergency care or specialty dental treatment.

Can I choose my own dentist?

With this dental plan, you may go to any dentist you wish.

How do I qualify for NSPE Scheduled Dental Insurance?

As long as you are an NSPE member in good standing, enrolling in the Plan is easy and automatic. There are no health questions, and NSPE members and their families cannot be turned down for coverage.

What if I decide I don't want this coverage?

When you become enrolled, you will be sent an identification card, fee schedule, and a list of participating dentists nearest your area. If you are not completely satisfied with the terms of your NSPE Scheduled Dental Insurance Plan materials, you may cancel your plan, without claim, within 30 days and your amount paid will be promptly refunded. Your coverage will then be invalidated.
